    Update:
It has been a few hours since Lifestyle Home Appliances’s oven delivery/install team left and we’ve gone to open the under oven draw, which won’t open properly now. We’ve figured out why that is. It is because where they’ve drilled a hole to put the new fuse box for the oven, they’ve drilled it into the under oven draw. The fuse box is dangling freely in the draw, and is blocking the draw from opening or closing properly. The fuse box is just hanging from electrical wiring, some of it bare, in the draw. I’m now in contact with them again, because it absolutely cannot be left in this dangerous state. It is a fire risk and electrocution risk.

I’ve paid £130 for installation, for them to carelessly scratch my new front door. And then, to deny it all, causing me further distress. Finally, to cause me to have to call Lifestyle Home Appliances back out again to put right the oven installation. I paid to have this service because I thought it right to have it done professionally and properly, and that is not the service I received. Lifestyle Home Appliances are now offering me just £25 for the scratched new front door. I’ve refused to accept that until I can at least see if a touch up pen will be effective in resolving it.

I’ve been a 5 star Lifestyle Home Appliances member for two years and have used them previously several times, for all of my appliances, without issue. They had even given my children free gifts such as teddy bears. Seemed like a great company.

However, this time, instead of a gift, their delivery persons/installers scratched my new front door. Not the kind of gift I was expecting. I watched it happen. They denied doing it and became a bit agitated and emotional. These two men acted as though I was falsely accusing them, like I was wronging them.

It was uncomfortable, in my home, it was like I was being made out to be the perpetrator, the false accuser, and they, the innocent victims. The last thing I would do is lie and cause an innocent person to get in trouble with their company. I don’t want them to get in trouble, it was clearly an accident, but I do need the problem acknowledged so that the company can try to resolve it.

I understand that nobody wants to be falsely accused. I can’t stand people who falsely accuse others of anything, I have a strong sense of justice, and I see false accusations as being terribly unfair.

So I can sympathise with his becoming emotional, if he truly believed himself victim of being wronged. I too would not like it if I thought I had been falsely accused. The problem is, I saw it happen, and I saw the damage it caused. Were it an old door, it wouldn’t have mattered so much. But I’ve just had it replaced.

I reached a level of reasoning with them by near the end of it. Explained to them that I understand they wouldn’t like feeling falsely accused if they believe they are innocent, and that I wouldn’t falsely accuse. I explained to them that luckily the damage looks to be light and so hopefully it will all be fully resolvable and nothing to worry about. I don’t want them to feel wronged, I am not out to wrong them, nor do I want them to have any negative consequences over a small mistake.

The scratches are small and appear light, but it is a brand new front door. Lifestyle Home Appliances decided it’s minor based on photos and they’re willing to offer £25 for a touch up pen.

It remains to be seen if this will be able to return the door to look like its original condition. Touch up pen itself does not restore the damage back to its original state, it only works to lessen the the obviousness of the damage. It’s likely that the touch up pen itself will remain visible. If so, this leaves me with a new front door, blemished, by some marking about an oven height distance apart. It was caused by parts on the side of the oven catching it.

Lifestyle Home Appliances, if the touch up pen does not work as well as hoped, then I’m left with a blemished front door that I paid £2000 for several weeks ago.

As I am already reviewing this, I will also mention something else they did. When they arrived, I saw them coming. I was almost at the front door and was going to open it, when I saw the one carrying a large drill, used the metal pointy, drill end of the drill to knock on the patterned glass on my front door. I was a bit taken back by the lack of care shown, by the willingness to risk causing damage, especially given that it was clearly a brand new door. I wouldn’t treat someone’s property this way. You would think it should be priority to be extra careful with anything that seems new.

I don’t know yet if I’ll ever use Lifestyle Home Appliances again. It depends on how good they are at resolving this. Previously I recommended Lifestyle Home Appliances to everyone, but this experience was a disturbing one. I’ve lost trust in Lifestyle Home Appliances and in delivery people in general.

And perhaps Lifestyle Home Appliances should offer some training to their delivery persons/installers, on taking more care, and on how to handle these situations if they arise, because this should not have been such a difficult situation. Also used the EXTRA10 discount code for an extra saving.
